Deportation & Removal Appeals
When the Home Office wants you to leave, the deadlines are measured in days. So is our response.

- Article 8
- Family and private life can outweigh deportation where the exceptions apply.
- Very compelling circumstances
- Required for longer sentences, beyond the standard exceptions.
- Appeal
- A refusal of a human rights or protection claim usually carries a right of appeal.

Refusal deadline check
Had a visa refused? Find out how long you have to appeal.
Tribunal appeal windows are short and strictly enforced. Enter the date on your refusal letter.
Indicative only: 14 days, counted here from the date on your letter (the earliest possible start). Some refusals carry administrative review rather than appeal, and detention cases can run on different timetables. Your letter states the exact deadline.

FAQs
Deportation & Removal Appeals: your questions
Still unsure? A ten-minute call usually settles it.
Is deportation automatic after a 12-month sentence?
The law requires a deportation order for foreign nationals sentenced to 12 months or more, unless an exception applies, such as a breach of human rights including family life. Those exceptions are where our work focuses.
How long do I have to respond?
The deadline is set out in your notice and is usually short. If you are reading this with a notice in hand, call us today.
Can I appeal from inside the UK?
In most human rights appeals, yes. Some cases are certified, which can limit this. We check your letter for certification straight away.
What is the difference between removal and deportation?
Removal is used for people without permission to stay. Deportation follows criminal convictions or 'conducive to the public good' decisions, and carries a re-entry ban until the order is revoked.
