From April 2024, the general salary threshold is £38,700 per year, or the going rate for your occupation — whichever is higher. Some shortage occupation roles may have different requirements.

Does my employer need to be a licensed sponsor?

Yes. Your employer must hold a valid Skilled Worker sponsor licence from the Home Office and issue you a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) before you can apply.

Can my family come with me on a Skilled Worker Visa?

Yes. Your spouse or partner and children under 18 can apply as your dependants, giving them the right to live and work in the UK alongside you.

How long is a Skilled Worker Visa granted for?

Up to 5 years, or the length of your Certificate of Sponsorship plus one month, whichever is shorter. After 5 years you can apply for ILR.
